Simple calm traditional design

The house had an irresistible feature, a huge field in an established neighborhood surrounded by mature trees. The desire to liberate and to organize the interior spaces and be connected to this landscape was the central theme that guided the renovation of this house. The designers used a variety of tactics to renovate and expand the house. The main form was expanded vertically by increasing the slope on the roof and extruded northward to increase the volume of the house within the existing foundations. The existing windows were replaced and the pace is extended.

The result is a “house-shaped” in a simple manner. This volume was expanded with a series of terraces that provide transitional spaces between the paneled and abroad, as well as sun protection for new windows. These terraces, in turn, frame the outdoor spaces around the house. The first level of the house becomes a single volume, open white and a black mass of service spaces, located outside the center. This mass subtly defines the living spaces of the first level. At the second level, the rooms are turned into a playing space. Visit Substance Architecture to give you further details.
